Atherstone Adders Hockey Club is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and wellbeing of all its members, particularly children and young people involved in our hockey activities.

The Club believes that everyone involved in hockey has a responsibility to help create a safe, welcoming, inclusive and enjoyable environment. This includes players, coaches, managers, administrators, volunteers, officials, parents, guardians, spectators and anyone else involved in Club activities.

All members and people associated with the Club are expected to behave appropriately and to follow the standards of conduct set out by England Hockey, together with the Club's own policies, procedures and safeguarding requirements.
In particular, everyone is expected to follow the principles set out in the England Hockey Spirit of Hockey – Code of Conduct, which promotes respect, integrity, fair play and positive behaviour within the sport.

The Club will not tolerate behaviour that places another member at risk of harm, discrimination, abuse, bullying, harassment or inappropriate conduct. Any safeguarding concern should be reported promptly to the Club Welfare Officer or through the appropriate England Hockey safeguarding procedures.

England Hockey makes clear that safeguarding is everyone's responsibility, and provides specific guidance for welfare officers, coaches, parents, young people, officials, committee members and adults involved with junior players.
All coaches and volunteers working in roles involving children and young people will be subject to the appropriate safeguarding requirements, including DBS checks where the role constitutes regulated activity.

Members should familiarise themselves with the Club's safeguarding policies and the relevant England Hockey guidance. If anyone has a concern about the welfare or safety of another member, they should report it rather than assume someone else will do so.
