The Adders Men’s 5th team took on a youthful and energetic Lichfield M6 side in what was expected to be challenging weather conditions. Gathering in the Lichfield clubhouse, the Adders prepared themselves with a focused team talk from the captain.
As the skies cleared, the team watched the conclusion of the Ladies’ game before heading out to the pitch. Fortunately, the rain held off, allowing for ideal playing conditions.
The Adders started strongly, setting the pace early with a quick goal from Noel Pagett, who opened his account for the match. The team showcased their skill with a composed passing game, maintaining possession and keeping the Lichfield attackers at bay. By halftime, the Adders had built a commanding 3-0 lead.
The second half saw Lichfield respond by changing their goalkeeper and increasing the pressure. They managed to score two quick goals, narrowing the gap before the Adders replied with a fourth goal from Joseph Driver. In the closing seconds, a defensive error allowed Lichfield to score their third, making for a tense finish.
After the final whistle, the Adders returned to the clubhouse to enjoy Lichfield’s hospitality and a lively fines session. Congratulations to Noel Padgett, who was named Man of the Match.
