The Adders Juniors took part in their first Warwickshire Mini tournament on Sunday. Travelling away to Coventry University pitch we took an U8, U10 and U12 team.
The U8s are a new group of children and some are very young, only just starting school in September. What an introduction to Adders hockey it was for them. Cold and wet but they cracked it.
Foxley Allan-Stubbs did some very impressive defensive work. Ellie Birch, Isabelle Round and Lilly-Mae Roberts gained in confidence and showed great team spirit. Charlie Jackson and Sophia Sworowski were a little overwhelmed by the experience but it was a good learning curve for them and helped them to gain experience for the next tournament.
They played three games losing to Sutton and beating Rugby and Cov and North Warwick. Thanks to our older U8s, Max Hendry and George Darkes for stepping into help our younger Adders.

There was a super performance from our U10s! We had a large squad but they all worked so well together as they subbed on and off the pitch! It was the first tournament for Max Birch, George Darkes, Camilla Greenhall, Max Hendry, Oliver Spence and Charlotte Wilson, who all gained in confidence as they played. Harriet Jeans and Elsie Wooding played well in defence and James Currie played some great hockey in mid field and even bagged himself a goal. George Stokes showed potential up front.
Man of Match was shared between Goal Keeper William Sworowski for some superb saves and Freddie 'Hat Trick’ Wagstaff who scored three gaols against Cov and North Warwick. They played three games winning, loosing and drawing.

It was great to see the development of our U12 who had a good overall performance. Polly Barden, Milo Deadman and Hazel Matthews worked well together in defence and were supported by Goal Keeper Jack Gallon. Reuben Marshall, Daniel Kokarevics and Oscar Moore linked well in mid-field with Mairi Gibbs-MacLeod playing up front. Despite playing two very good games they couldn’t find the back of the net against Cov and North Warwick, but Oscar Moore scored a great goal against Nuneaton.

It was great to see our players supporting the other teams, well done to Jack and Mairi for playing for the opposition.
