Chairman’s Mid-Season Update: Progress, Growth and a Call for Volunteers

Chairman’s Mid-Season Update: Progress, Growth and a Call for Volunteers

Joe Kobrin16 Feb - 09:38

the Chairman has reflected on the progress, challenges and opportunities

As we pass the midway point of the 2025/26 season and head into the business end of the campaign, the Chairman has reflected on the progress, challenges and opportunities shaping the club both on and off the pitch.

On the Pitch
It has been a season of mixed fortunes across the senior sections.
The Men’s 1st Team continues to impress and remain firmly in the hunt for promotion — a potential milestone that would represent a significant step forward in the club’s competitive ambitions.

Across the rest of the men’s section, results have been more varied. While some sides have shown encouraging progress, others are battling hard to maintain league status. In January, the Men’s 5th (Development) Team withdrew from league competition. Since then, the club has worked proactively to secure alternative playing opportunities for those affected, ensuring that development pathways remain open and players continue to gain valuable match experience.

In the women’s section, both teams are currently positioned mid-table. Notably, the Ladies 2nd Team has enjoyed a strong resurgence in the second half of the season, recording several excellent victories and building real momentum heading into the final fixtures.

Junior Section Going from Strength to Strength
One of the standout successes this season has been the continued growth of the Junior and Badger Sections. Recruitment has been thriving, with new players joining week after week.
This surge in participation marks a major area of development for the club and provides an exciting foundation for the future, reinforcing the strength of the club’s long-term pathway.

Santa Sleigh Success
The club was proud to receive a generous cheque at the recent Santa Sleigh presentation. A huge thank you goes to all the Adders who turned out on the Sunday night.
We also extend our sincere thanks to the Atherstone Sleigh Committee for their dedication in organising and running the Christmas Sleigh. Going out night after night with the various organisations and volunteers. For us seeing the smiles on children’s faces each evening is what makes the entire experience so special.

After many years of outstanding service as the club’s liaison with the Sleigh Committee, Sally will be stepping down from the role. We are now seeking an enthusiastic volunteer to step into what are undoubtedly big shoes to fill.

Thank You to Our Volunteers
As the season approaches its conclusion, we will be saying farewell to several dedicated volunteers and committee members who are stepping down after tremendous service:

• Sally Oldham – Santa Sleigh Co-ordinator
• Yvonne Davies – Secretary and Safeguarding Officer
• Ben Oldham – Umpires Secretary

Their time, energy and commitment have made a lasting impact on the club, and we extend our sincere gratitude for everything they have contributed.

Get Involved – Committee Opportunities
To support the continued growth and smooth running of the club, we are now seeking volunteers to fill several key roles:

• Secretary
• Umpire Manager
• Assistant Treasurer
• Santa Sleigh Co-ordinator
• Safeguarding & DBS Officer

These roles are vital to the success of the club both on and off the pitch. Anyone interested in getting involved and helping to shape the future of the club is warmly encouraged to come forward.

So if you are interested in any of the above roles, or wish to just get a little bit more involved in the running of the club, please reach out to our Chairman or Secretary, who will be more than happy to have a informal chat and give you more details.
Together, we continue building a strong, inclusive and forward-looking club community.
