Adders U12 boys take the Plate in the latest Solihull Schools Tournament

Success for Adders U12 boys in latest tournament

The Adders junior section were delighted to field an U12 team in the latest Solihull Schools U12's Boys Tournament held on Sunday 12 December. The impact of covid meant we had a depleted squad with no goalkeeper and had to field a number of younger players from the U10s squad.

As a consequence the team had a tough start to the tournament losing their first two games to Old Sils A and Sutton Coldfield. In their third game the U12s came back fighting with a narrow 2:1 defeat against Warwick thanks to a goal scored by Brody Varden.

This enabled the Adders team to fight it out in the Plate competition, facing and beating Olton in the Semi-Final winning 3:1 with goals from Jacob Garland, Joseph Driver and Stanley Harris. In the final the Adders faced Old Sils B drawing 1:1 which meant the winners were decided through an exciting penalty shuffle shoot out. Joseph Driver, Julian Roberts and Brody Varden all coolly scored beating the goalkeeper, whilst Old Sils could only score twice thanks to great pressure from Milo Deadman who stopped the third penalty and enabled Adders to win the game and the the Plate competition.

The overall tournament winners were Warwick who were presented with medals followed by the Adders team who were congratulated as tournament Plate winners. Many thanks to Ellis, Jill and Mick for their pitchside coaching and organising the team, together with Yvonne, Donna and other junior coaches who have worked hard at training to get the U12 team ready for this tournament.
