Mens 1sts 7 v 1 Ramgarhia 1sts

Scorers: M.Webb(4), J.Wagg, D.Johal, S.Hirons

The Adders Mens first team completed their perfect first half of the league season with a convincing win over Derby Ramgarhia. The scoreline of 7-1 made it 10 w1ns from 10 matches and puts them in a great frame of mind for next weeks EH Cup game against Tamworth.

Martin Webb was once again on the scoresheet with four goals, and with goals from Daman Johal, Sean Hirons and Josh Wagg the end result was never in doubt. Ramgarhia had a game plan to take the tempo out of the game, crowd their own 25, rely on the long ball out of defence and to generally attempt to frustrate the Adders. This strategy worked well for the first 10 minutes before the Adders began to stretch their defence with some intelligent forward play.
Daman Johal was the outstanding forward on show for the Adders as he constantly tested the Ramgarhia defenders and gained a string of short corners. Webb was on target after 10 minutes with the second of the Adders short corners and shortly afterwards Johal himself extended the Adders lead with a close range effort.
Ramgarhia now had to change their tactics to get back into the game and they got caught out several times on the counter attack as Keelan Ford and Ben Mathews took hold of midfield. One of the Adders counter attacks led to a deliberate foul in the D by a Ramgarhia defender and Webb stepped up to slot home the resulting penalty stroke.
Ramgarhia did manage a consolation goal of their own from a short corner - only the ninth goal that the Adders have conceded this season - but that was not before the home side had managed to score another two of their own from Sean Hirons and Josh Wagg.
The Adders seventh goal came through the final play of the match as an experimental short corner routine paid dividends and took Webbs match total to four!
