Sutton Ladies 6ths 0 v 4 Ladies 2nds

Scorers: Ceem Rattanawong, Alice Sykes, Sophie Bates, Rachel E Roberts
DoD:: Liv Wilkins - fluffing 3 crosses into the D
MoM: Sam Borley

This was the last game before the Christmas break and the Adders had the good fortune to be playing Sutton away. Having beaten them convincingly early on in September, the Ladies 2s were looking forward to bagging 3 points! The Adders arrived up for the game, organised and positive. From the off, the Adders were giving Sutton no time on the ball. Liv Wilkins did a great job of battling to win the ball, charge down the right wing and cross the ball to Ceem Rattanawong who coolly slotted it past the Sutton keeper. Sutton then woke up and realised they needed to take the game to the Adders.
But the Adders were having none of it. Staunch defending from Neve Connor, Dawn Orton, GK Ray Small and MoM Sam Borley kept Sutton out. Our midfield of Sophie Bates, Alice Sykes, Leah Azzopardi and Christine Kobrin worked tirelessly, attacking and defending! Storm Strugnell was a terrier behind them all, not letting Sutton through! This allowed our forwards to set up some great attacking play with Rachel E Roberts winning a few short corners, leading to Helen Rowland’s goal being kept out by a Sutton defenders feet. Penalty flick awarded and Alice Sykes made sure of goal number 2! A second short corner routine saw Sophie Bates get a shot on goal confusing the keeper who very helpfully made sure it went into the back of the net!
The Adders were 3 nil up at half time!
Spirits were high going into the 2nd half. A reshuffle of positions kept Sutton on their toes, particularly with Leah Azzopardi moving back to centre mid and working her magic with our press. Storm Strugnell had a nose bleed and played up front, trying desperately to score! Finally Rachel E Roberts got the goal she deserved from a straight strike short corner routine! Sutton had no answer to the Adders today! The Adders were awesome! One theory was the promise of a 3 course Christmas teas back at Sutton’s clubhouse. It didn’t disappoint, made all the sweeter by bringing home the 3 points.
Bring on the next half of the season!
