Adders U12's @ Solihull Tournament - November 2019

Once again the Adders Juniors were invited to take part in the Solihull School U12's Boys Tournament. This is a great opportunity for the youngsters to play against seven other teams from Warwickshire and to show that our small Club can compete with the best. The venue and occasion is a great experience for the youngsters as they play against the top teams in the County at one of the most prestigious venues. What's more the team did the Club proud by winning the Plate competition beating Stratford 3-0 in the final.

The squad comprised Jack Woods(Captain), Jack Hobbs, Ethan Connor, Lewis Twigger, Ashton Azzopardi, Jimmy Prince, Monty Fisher, William Maynes, Andrew Currie, and Edward Kobrin in goals. The two opening games against Warwick and Old Silhs were all Adders pressure, however despite several good chances the team failed to score in both and drew them 0-0. The side was then overpowered by a strong Leamington side and so found themselves in the Plate Competition.
The side showed great determination to come back from a goal behind in the semi-final against Olton to run out 3-1 winners. Two goals came from Ashton Azzopardi and one from Lewis Twigger on the stroke of full time.
The final against Stratford was hard fought with both sides having excellent chances. Goalie Edward Kobrin played well to keep out the eager Stratford forwards and Jack Woods was majestic at the heart of defence as he snuffed out attack after attack. Ethan Connor came into his own during this game and showed his strength and power as he smashed home two shots from the edge of the D to give the Adders a two goal lead. Lewis Twigger then cooly slotted the ball past the Olton keeper to take his tournament tally to three and to seal the Adders victory.
Jimmy Prince and Andrew Currie were tenacious in midfield throughout the tournament and showed that size didn't matter as they wriggled their way through several tackles and created chances for themselves and the forwards.
William Maynes who has only been playing for a season displayed some great maturity in defence and showed just how much he has improved as he read the game well and made several key challenges and passes. Jack Hobbs and Monty Fisher also worked hard in defence and attack and showed that victory is possible through teamwork.
